Graduate Council
The role of the Graduate Council (“the Council”)
is to consistently improve the quality of graduate education
at Grand Canyon University. The Council serves in an advisory
capacity to the Dean of the Graduate Studies and the Provost/Chief
Academic Officer in ensuring consistency of standards for scholarship
across all graduate programs at the University. The Council is
also responsible for monitoring the alignment of program and
scholarship standards of the University with generally accepted
practices in academe and industry.
The Council is comprised of two representatives from each college,
the Graduate Studies Dean ex officio, up to four graduate
students, one at-large member, and legal counsel. One representative
from each college must be an assistant dean or higher with direct
responsibilities for graduate programs. The second member from
each college must be a terminally-degreed, full-time faculty member.
Up to one graduate student from each college may also be appointed
at the discretion of the college dean. The at-large member is appointed
by the Provost/Chief Academic Office. The Council is chaired by
the Dean of the Graduate Studies. Ad hoc committees are formed
as required to accomplish the work of the Council. Ad hoc committees
will be chaired by a member of the Council and appointed by the
dean. |
