The Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership is designed specifically for those scholars and practitioners interested in studying the interaction between leadership systems and continuous improvement. The Program focuses on developing leaders capable of generating and applying new knowledge to achieve organizational outcomes. The degree is offered by the College of Education in collaboration with The Ken Blanchard College of Business.
This doctoral program has three components. First, Grand Canyon's leadership curriculum is grounded in the philosophies of Dr. Ken Blanchard and contains an emphasis in servant leadership and the examination of its impact on numerous organizational contexts. Students will study the major bodies of literature in leadership by critically reflecting on existing theory and identifying appropriate applications of theory in educational, business, and other organizational environments. Additionally, this doctoral program contains a series of research related courses that prepare the participants to execute action research with the intention of both adding to the knowledge base within the scholarly community and providing valuable insights to communities of practice. Students will also develop academic and organizational research expertise.
The Program adopts a hybrid model which combines the online modality with three face-to-face residencies. All participants in this program will be expected to attend three residencies with approximately forty hours of content each over a three-year period.
